Saying goodbye

Perceiving GYMY like a happy family rather than just a formal community of students and teachers seems to be a good reason for getting sentimental and shedding a tear when saying goodbye to our graduates every year in May.

To follow the tradition, the ceremony was held in the House of Culture in Myjava, and organized by students of the third grades with the help of their form teachers. Anyway, the organization of such an event is not always an easy thing (especially when taking into consideration the inability of a few classes to agree on the kind of performance, which they were supposed to give). This is why we are a little more satisfied to have done it quite successfully. Of course, I must admit that the credit was not only ours – many performers were stunning and made the atmosphere unforgettable. Let me therefore highlight a few moments that come to mind, at least mine.

After the opening ceremony and the heart-catching words by the headmistress of GYMY, our attention was brought to girls from prima and their pantomimic dance. A band from sexta – Trio sexta (what a creative name) and their rock song definitely cut the mustard. After traditional singing performances, which included Natálka Štefancová with a song by Adele, and Eva Bednáriková performing “We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off”, new first-graders brought a little freshness, especially Klára Magulová and her rendition of Hallelujah. More likely than not, the audience was later surprised by sports performances containing arm-wrestling, basketball, karate and others. Towards the end, Lukáš Zelenák played a romantic French composition on the accordion. All the oktáva students showed us their dances, gave a few speeches and the final feeling of the enjoyable event was confirmed by ´Überraschung´.

In the end, I’d like to thank all the teachers and students, including our graduates, who participated in the organization and performances.I feel fortunate to be a part of this whole event.
